Open fields, vineyards and stony pasture; sits tight in a form until almost trodden on.
Three or four litters between March and September, overlapping so completely that the phases below are an average rather than a sequence. Leverets are born furred and open-eyed and are visited by the doe once a day, for about five minutes.
