29 August – 14 March
the coastal calendar, shifted 14 days later for this region
Willow stands over water in Kopački rit and the lower Drava; roosts in noisy colonies.
A Balkan speciality that came back from near-extinction, and one of the reasons Kopački rit is a Ramsar site. Nests in mixed colonies with herons, so a disturbance that flushes one species empties the whole tree.
